I have been using the reward calendar for booking trips in the past - which is an extremely helpful tool. For about two months that tool is no longer available, which makes the process of booking online very tedious. A user needs to check each day and different airports for what they can afford. If you are booking for two people or more it becomes even more challenging. I have called AF, and have gotten a variety of responses. The last one, Andrea at AF said there was a”glitch” and clients and AF booking agents were never supposed to see the calendar of reward travel … rather both groups are supposed to search for flights day by day. The calendar only works for cash purchases. I said “WHAT?” I have been searching this way for a couple of years, and now the “glitch” was fixed by not allowing such a helpful tool to be removed?? Once I hung up, I checked award travel with my husband’s account and “Voila” it worked! However, after checking award travel a few times, it disappeared again. I have recommended people sign up for the AF flying blue program (2 people signed up for your credit card as a result) in the last year. I think you have a good program, however I am not understanding the contradictory responses from your employees and the removal of a very practical and useful trip planning tool, that has no downsides that I can see. Other airlines use such similar tools. It also frees up the phone lines if people can plan their trips online. I suggest you rethink this or fix the new “glitch” if it was unintended.

Living in the USA, I am not a regular Air France/KLM customer, so I cannot comment on the website or the airlines from the perspective of a cash customer. However, as a hobby, I arrange travel and manage frequent flier accounts for 25+ friends and family. Consequently, I have far more knowledge of frequent flier programs than most people. As far as FlyingBlue is concerned, it is difficult to find something nice to say. 1) I do appreciate that transfers from Chase to FlyingBlue are instantaneous. (That is, when they are working at all.) It is frustrating that some other airlines still take a couple days to process an online transfer, and award seats may disappear before the points are available. 2) When attempting to transfer points to FlyingBlue from Chase, I got an error message, something along the lines of "This transaction requires special handling, please call...." I tried on my wife's account, and got the same message. So, I set up yet another account in my daughter's name, and the transaction went through without a problem. I googled the error message, and apparently this has been a regular occurrence with FlyingBlue for at least a few years. Some folks report that it was due to slightly different name spellings between their Chase and FB accounts, but that is not the case for me, and we have transferred points before. I do not know if the glitch is with Chase or FlyingBlue, but since you have chosen to be partners, you should correct this longstanding bug. 3) Why is it necessary to select a specific airline to perform an award search? I have just one FlyingBlue account, and, as far as I can tell, the search results are the same whether I choose the KLM link or the Air France link. (I have not tried a search on Transavia.) 4) When performing an award search, a 6-day calendar of results will appear, but the miles indicated on the calendar do not reflect the actual miles required. You must click on each day individually to see the actual results. 5) The mileage requirements for award tickets are completely out of whack. You might find one itinerary from Europe to North America in economy for 15,000 miles, which is a great price, even with the fees considered. However, the other itineraries, which are nearly identical, will be priced at 275,000 miles. WTF? I find it hard to believe that anybody would look at the results page and choose the 275,000 option, when the 15,000 option is readily available. It seems clear that you do not want to offer award tickets on certain flights. If that is the case, then you should simply not show those flights, which will clear up the clutter on the results screen. 6) Award pricing for premium cabins is simply absurd, often 600-700K for a one-way ticket in business class. Who would blow that amount of points on a single one-way ticket? As with most people, the bulk of my points are from credit cards, and I can transfer those points to multiple airlines. Why would I transfer 700K Chase points to FlyingBlue to get a single one-way ticket in business class? The same points could get me 8 tickets on United, Air Canada, Singapore, Iberia, British, Turkish, etc.? Better still, some of these airlines only assess fees of $6, compared to FU fees of $250+ on FlyingBlue. When planning award travel, I continue to consider all options, but FlyingBlue rarely comes out on top.

Style Over Substance

While stylish, from an operational point of view the website lacks a lot - especially important regarding checkin/seats/PreCheck. And when there are errors, it doesn't give any indication what the issue is, much less over any support to fix it. Instead of allowing you to pick different seats, it forces you to sit together, as just one example if there's more than one passenger. It has not place to input a Known Traveler number, even after consulting reservations and Flying Blue. Often it doesn't allow checkin, for no reason. Or it will email passes, but not produce as in a mobile format on the app. Flight information isn't really updated, and when it is it isn't realistic. There is no transparency where the plane is coming from. Too many steps to upgrade a seat, no transparency over when that can occur. The seat maps tend to disappear 48+ hours prior to flight time, the nonly reappear for checkin mode around 24 hours. Endless adds to add other elements or outside suppliers. Font is very large for somethings, with a lot of white space, then in others you need a microscope to read them. I don't think anyone in AF management actually has to go through the entire process passengers go through, otherwise it wouldn't remain the glitchy, convoluted mess it is now. And with a constant browbeating to go to the web/app, why no support for it?

Felt like a bait and switch. Had booked flight direct on AirFrance. Nothing anywhere indicated "standby". Picked seats for flight to and fro, git booking number, etc. Day before, trying check i, had issues had to call service line. Was told flight is standby not guarantee. Wasn't going to drive 4 hours to possibly nlt have a flight and absolutely hadnto be there at that day, time. They "were booked full, maybe could get business class" . Hold. Let me chck, no flight is full. Let me see what I can do when heard we have overseas class requirement, had to be there. Hold. Comea back, says we can upgrade from economy to economy plus for addtiomal 560 bucks. We were in rock and hard place. Had to take. He putsbon hold, comes back to get cc payment. Puts on hold and after a short bit, comes back saying ok bookrd flight, guaranteed seats all good and the proceeds to give me my originally booked seats that I have already selected on original booking and payment back in March. This was now middle of May and conveniently we het exact seat we booked months earlier for 560+ more bucks for a flight that was 15 minutes earlier ok our conversations was booked full?

Change fee and inflight entertainment

I missed my original flight and the change fee was more than the original flight. This seems like my original fare was not applied to my rebooked flight. No one could offer any explanation as to why it was so expensive and the Delta gate agents in MSP seemed surprised it was so much. The inflight entertainment was pretty hard to watch. It kept pausing or skipping or showing bits of some other show? I wouldn't complain but the wifi was too expensive to justify so being left with frustrating tv/movies for 8hrs wasn't great .

Probably the worst call center customer service of…

Probably the worst customer service of an airline that I have seen in many years and I fly a lot. If you booked a ticket, going out in business class and coming back in economy class the economy class ticket coming back is billed $350 more than if you book an economy going out and economy coming back with the exact same flight. I called to find out why and got someone who clearly didn't know anything about air france. Kept me on for 30 minutes. Said no supervisor around but one would call but never did of course

would give zero stars if possible

Tried to book a ticket 4 times. It would book, send a confirmation and 5 minutes later send an email saying cannot complete payment. Called the customer service line, after 15 minutes of wait time, they said use another payment method/card- did that, same issue. This happened 4 times. Then they said " go to an air France ticketing counter near you in person"- complete joke of an airline, website and booking process. 1 star because can't rate lower than that.

Forced to check a bag that was smaller than carry on dimensions. Absolutely awful customer service and way over priced. Even budget airlines like Ryan Air and Vueling all allowed me to use my carry on back pack, as a carry on. Whereas this airline took one look and told me I have to check it. The check in attendee spoke down to me and was incredibly disrespectful. I am never flying this airline again.

I booked a round-trip first class/business class flight with Air France, but the last leg of my journey was set up as main cabin instead of first class/business class. I reached out to Air France’s support team via the website, but they were unable to help me as they reportedly only handle post-travel inquiries. This issue is not resolvedx please help! Thank you!

Did not honor price shown on website. Was impossible to conclude transaction on website. Error code instructed to call reservation number to complete. Then told a price nearly double. Finally, “Jul” said they would honor the price. 3 days later the ticket still was not issued. I called again and was told they would not honor the quoted price.

I was not able to complete the booking process. When I got to the part where I should have been able to add payment, I was given an error. This happened multiple times so I needed to go through the flight search, selection, seat selection and passenger information 5 times before I was able to reach the payment page. Same flights every time.

The website generated an error message telling me to complete my booking by phone at the end of multiple attempts forcing me to re-enter my search and all my information over and over again. It probably took 10 tries over 3 hours to finalize my reservation. This has happened to me before on the Air France website. Wholly unacceptable.

If you have to call customer service, just shoot yourself first and save yourself the pain

I was all set to buy a business class to get going out and economy class ticket coming back, but then I called Customer Service and I ended up using just frequent flyer miles instead it was that bad. I've flown every airline and I've never had customer service from the call center.

Very difficult to get through on phone line to ask questions -- impossible really. Very confusing website with multiple classes of airfare that are extremely difficult to understand. Couldn't get the seat I wanted for some reason, but there was no one to ask for help.

Fares in miles is glitchy

Several times when searching for fares miles the calendar function did not work or I was unable to process to the purchase page. Also it was not possible to add an I can’t in lap to my booking online and instead had to call and wait 40 mins to do so.

The website is confusing and gave the appearance of booking upgraded seats, then didn;tm and it was up to me to discover the problem, contact air france, and fix things. It took about 2 hours more or less to book a flight from Mexico City to Vienna.

Try to make a simple change of a return flight that had many open seats. Couldn’t do online, customer service took forever, and end the end was not able to make the change. Had to cancel my ticket and start from the beginning. Very disappointed

Air France tech is buggy. Their system ate my reservation after I had transferred miles over to make it. Customer service was useless and refused to reverse the mile transfer. Terrible experience.
